Instagram is currently working on a solution to monetise stories. This will allow creators to offer exclusive story content for a fee. Followers can subscribe to this content, which remains hidden from "normal" followers.
It is not yet 100% clear exactly how the whole thing works. This is a leak from a very reliable source. The subscription model is definitely coming! What is not yet known is which settings are available to the Creator.
