What are the allegations made by whistleblower Frances Haugen against Facebook actually about? We clarify!

2 Facebook realises how dangerous Instagram is (especially) for young girls. Researchers commissioned by the company are said to have found that Instagram harms young people more than other social networks.

3 Facebook wanted to improve and made fundamental changes to its algorithm. The aim was to connect users more with family members and friends. It backfired! The climate on the platform got demonstrably worse - and users got angrier.

4 According to Haugen, Facebook does nothing against drug cartels or human trafficking.

5 Facebook's sincere goal was to increase vaccination rates in the US. However, anti-vaccination activists flooded the network so intensively with anti-vaccination content that the opposite was the case. For Haugen, this is a sign that Facebook itself is failing to control the platform.

6 Facebook sees children as a valuable and unutilised asset. Internal working groups have been working for some time to attract young people between the ages of 10 and 12 to the platform.
